It is rare in the midst of suffering or comfort that anyone chooses this path.

There is no equation to determine who will begin to blaze in the face of pain, in the lap of comfort, or in the tsunami of apathy and mediocrity. There is no way to judge the pain of others in the face of your own when you are lost in the simple suffering of the immediate moment. The long-term goal of over-arcing love that will bring life to the tiniest creature while still understanding that death is needed. That to wipe out inequity and intolerance; that a certain level of boundary must be placed on what is tolerated. There is no paradox of tolerance once you realize that those who are intolerant have placed themselves outside the boundaries of tolerance. That to love enough to eliminate hate requires greater strength than the shrug and turn.

We are once again at a crossroads.

And we are losing light faster than we are realizing love.

Newly formed and lustrous
becoming a jewel from layers thrown
a broken threshold a flash
The lights in an instant are stole

both sides to the light
to be formed in the dark
to face layers and come out glowing

Destroyed in a moment
of ongoing torment
The running waters want to go not knowing

Another star blooms in tension
when the tether is cut
rising out of the horror we’re facing

the night folds around
and holds out the beauty
so we can see one last love embracing

The wind sighs by me
whispering secrets loved long
Memory in scent

Trees murmur to all
Hushing the children playing
Rustle fallen clothes

The clouds drifting through
They have witnessed it before
mourning comes too soon

The water ripples
sorrow given form
A drop remembers

Lost to flow
Lost to pain
A mother returned to the energy plane

Left behind
Left in sorrow
Fear in facing the thousand tomorrows

Holding hands
Hold agony
Absent but watching over her progeny

The body is always weaker than soul
The spirit continues no matter the toll
Mind carries spirit from one to the next
And still the waves of grief will roll

Where we go is where we wait
Where we wait the light purifies
Why pain is endured corporeal
When the end is what life defies
